There is a database for research of the latest availabilities.

Would it be permissible to leave things which would not be eaten in the own household (i.re. it contains gelatine and was bought by mistake) for someone who is not opposed to eating such things?

Actually, the videos that come up as recommendations after your youtube clip that your watching is based on your watch history. So if you were watching sports highlights before an Islamic video, you will see a combination of sports and Islamic recommendations. Similar to what you see on the side of youtube as recommendation.
